I have my account. I do, I do. But I've yet to successfully log on. Once I'm on, though, it'll be all honey pots and Tom Trotter praise.

Guess who's worthy of praise?

Let the worshipping commence!!

Thanks,
Tt

Tom Trotter has invited you to open a free Google Gmail account. The
invitation will expire in three weeks and can only be used to set up one
account.

To accept this invitation and register for your account, visit
http://gmail.google.com/gmail/a-crazyrandomlettersthatdontworknow

Once you create your account, Tom Trotter will be notified with
your new @gmail.com address so you can stay in touch with Gmail!

If you haven't already heard about Gmail, it's a new search-based webmail
service that offers:

- 1,000 megabytes (one gigabyte) of free storage
- Built-in Google search that instantly finds any message you want
- Automatic arrangement of messages and related replies into
"conversations"
- Text ads and related pages that are relevant to the content of your
messages

Gmail is still in an early stage of development. If you set up an
account, you'll be able to keep it even after we make Gmail more
widely available and as one of the system's early testers, you will
be helping us improve the service through your feedback. We might ask
for your comments and suggestions periodically and we appreciate your
help in making Gmail even better.

Thanks,

The Gmail Team

Could this be?

Two minutes after my original post...I have an offer. Here's how it all went down:

Awesome. I'm so blogging this.

Dang, I should've added this

Hey potential giver of gifts. The second I get your generous invitation, I'm DIGITALLY creating a graphic of your name incased in a heart. It's just that easy.

dorkfish offers "a blog about YOU worshipping YOU"

It's a noble concept. I get to feed your ego. Feed it with a shovel of my blogging skills. And you send me an invite.

The blog dedicated to your's truly (not me, oddly, but you) will be located at the aptly named http://howigotmygmail.blogspot.com/. With a moniker like that and the Uber creative concepts of "wanting a GMAIL account" and "blogging", this crazy scenario will be FARKed for sure. Ever wanted the chance to get FARKed? Wouldn't it be nutty if this did? Regardless, I'll try my best to get your name out into the public and I'll surely succeed somewhat.

Gimme dat honeypot. Luv ya.

First post

Seriously. This GMAIL stuff is crazy. The whole world wants a taste of Google's honeypot. Strike that. I want a taste of Google's honeypot. I want to stick my face in it and feel the warm sticky goodness that is Google's fresh GB of honey.
There are many ways to get a GMAIL account.
- Have a friend give you an invite. (I have none)
- Be a cool "industry" type and get an invite (I'm quite uncool and "rural")
- Buy one off eBay (I'd rather pay for housing this summer, personally)
- Go to and beg some kind soul to give you a GMAIL invite. (That's my kind of laziness)

So it has been decided. I've registered at as dorkfish, which, mind you, is the best user name you could ever choose. Seriously. And, now it's time for me to go make my post.

Edit: Crimony. I missed this method of getting a GMAIL account. Too bad that I don't have a blogger account.

Update: 20/05/04. If you're a Blogger user, you may have the chance to join Gmail, or to distribute invitations. While this feature initially went away after the Blogger redesign, tonight, it's back! If you are an "active" blogger user, login and then look on the right side above the Blogger Help box. If there's a little square with the title "Want Gmail?", you're in luck
